Graduate School Intellect Meets Pre-school Behavior...

My Boyfriend CG is currently enrolled in graduate level courses for a degree in Counseling (ironic after you hear the rest of this story) and has been doing very well and has had some great experiences. However, in his last few classes he has been having some issues with a fellow classmate. He and "Su" I'll call her (sensitive and unnecessary) were in a group discussing a situation about how to act as a guidance counselor for a student, a pregnant teen to be exact, if your place of employment did not allow for such a student to receive counseling services.

Su said she thought they should counsel the student anyways and CG (who is very sarcastic) said that "if she did that, she would definitely get fired. Yep definitely get fired." The entire group laughed and he figured they would continue with the class. Oh no, Su was not a fan of the comment and later went up to CG to tell him she thought he was "hurtful and rude," (hence the sensitive). So, he apologized saying "If my comment upset you in anyway I am sorry, I was joking about our prospective situation, I wasn't referring to you personally," and then left.

The next class before CG is about to give the presentation Su walks up to him, slaps him hard on the back, and walks to her seat.... If that wasn't bad enough, during his presentation, Su whispers to the person next to her and says "watch this" then proceeds to question the font and wording on CG's powerpoint, and she disagrees with every theorist he mentions, but was luckily cut off when the Professor states; "actually he is correct," (hence the unnecessary).

CG left class thinking MUCH less of this woman but didn't think too much else about it. Then she contacts him (on facebook) again, stating that she feels "unsafe with him in the class and will be taking this issue to a higher power." Yes, all because he made a joke about their sample situation.

He responded with "Okay, I did not think this was as big of an issue as you do, clearly, and I too will be in contact with the department head regarding this issue. As you are intentionally taking away from my learning experience as well as physically assaulting me. This is both unnecessary and unprofessional. Thanks."

That is all.

I could have DIED when he told me all of this. Su is close to ten years older than I am and I don't know her at all, but I was completely embarrassed for her and also think SHE should be mentally evaluated by a counselor herself before deciding to enter the field as one.

If any of you are in graduate class or have taken courses please let me know if you've ever encountered such behavior at the highest level of education. I think it is completely unacceptable. Maybe if this was high school it would go unnoticed but graduate school? The real world? Haven't we outgrown the urge to hit people in class because they don't agree with us? I mean really. I sincerely hope so but it doesn't seem to be the case.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

Oh New England winter weather. We have a love/hate relationship, I love it, it hates me.
For example:
-Slipping on the ONLY patch of ice in the parking lot? Check.
-While people were watching? Check
-Getting your car stuck in the parking lot because the people who plow, plowed everywhere in that parking lot EXCEPT the row your car is in? Check.
-Having NO classes, OR work cancelled all day so you have to walk around campus against 25mph winds(no joke)? Check.
-Reading on facebook before all of this that your sisters have a RAIN DELAY in CT and get to go into work late as you layer up the Northface and Uggs? Check.

Ugh, well, on the bright side it IS starting to feel like December and there are only 16 more days before Christmas!

A day in the life of a nursing major

So, I don't think I have EVER been so ready for Thanksgiving break in my LIFE! This week I have three exams, two 8 page research papers (one with a presentation), and two journal article presentations with summaries! All do before I leave! So much for my partying days in college....15 hours in the library on Friday night and Saturday morning should be illegal.

Dear God! Have I really not updated my Blog since the beginning of September!?!?

Well! THAT'S a problem. Sorry my blog has become one of the ones that you get news feed about but don't bother checking because A. It sucks, or B. Nothing is ever new! I apologize for being a boring blogger!

Anyways, the reason behind my pitiful page is that I am in college...where I play tennis, study as a nursing major, and have work-study. The only free time during the week I get I am sleeping, studying, or eating. Hopefully this will change when the season ends...since instead of working at the health and counseling center I will most likely end up there needing SERIOUS therapy or have stress-related illness!

Speaking of tennis....we have a new coach this year who taught for 20 years at a D1 college....we aren't D1. He is having a difficult time wrapping his around the fact that our school doesn't PAY us to be playing this sport, in fact we pay a TON just to take classes here...so forgive me if I choose to study over WATCHING the match I am not playing in until 11PM at night which was the only time it could be rescheduled. Tennis is something that I love to do, and nursing is what I PLAN to do for THE REST OF MY LIFE, that's what needs to be priority 1. Thanks though!

I mean I CAN manage my time and make it to as much tennis as I can, and I do, but this past Saturday I took off of studying for my own mental well-being which was probably why I needed all of Monday night to review. That weekend was alumni weekend though so my boyfriend was obviously up (since he is alumni...see my "student with parent" blog in case you forgot that he is 4 1/2 years older than me). So I was so excited to see all of our friends that graduated last spring and we had a good night. His was better than mine though...I remembered for him!

The night started off out to dinner with a bunch of people who graduated with drinks, insane stories I never wanted to hear about his Freshman year, and more drinks. After that we went to a house party where rugby "initiation" was occurring (he played rugby at school...which is why we were there). This basically consisted of kids throwing up in the living room, peeing their pants, or passing out on the lawn...needless to say I made him take me back to school after about 5 minutes. Luckily for us we left since cops showed up to bust the party after an astray player managed to roam the streets alone, pee on a cruiser, and be tasered down after an attempted/successful assault of an officer....lovely. Dear Rugby team, think twice about initiation next year...now that you've finished cleaning bodily fluids off your carpet and bailed everyone out of jail.

After that horrific scene, we went to another house on campus and had a good time, again, C more than me since I maintained my sobriety for practically the whole night (not exactly by choice but by the time I wanted a drink I checked our once overflowing backpack which was now empty compliments of the boy.

I looked at him and go "we have no more beer, or vodka, we should leave."

He looks around the kitchen, finds an unattended backpack, opens it and pulls out a budlight. He then replies with "here Baby, I even sprung for the bottle! You can thank me later..."

Haha! Or I can just thank the kid who it belonged to.

Alumni....

I'm hoping to have more stories later, but since I have matches Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this weekend I'm thinking you will have to wait until next weekend.

That's all for now.

Together Again

This weekend the entire family was home! Everything was pretty typical, you know, happy hour, drinks...lots of drinks, shopping, home-cooked food...it was pretty great. It's also my Dad's 50th tomorrow so we took advantage of the opportunity to come home when we were all able to on a non-holiday weekend, which is about as frequent as a blue moon these days. And since none of us have any money since we are all either in college, graduate programs, or still paying off student loans, we decided to write my Dad a poem about the four of us with him growing up in lieu of a gift. Of course he loved it, since writing poems has always been a T family tradition, I'm not quite sure why, my Nana (his mother) was a teacher and always loved English, so maybe that's where we get it. So instead of just giving him the poem we decided it would be a good idea to read it out loud to him, while our mother flip videoed us. Obviously we all cried trying to read it aloud and sister #3 couldn't even get through her verse and sister #2 had to finish for her! Next time we will know better than to apply mascara and eyeliner 5 minutes beforehand.

Back to School

So I just moved into my room at school for tennis preseason and my boyfriend, being the stand-up guy he is, drove down with me (since all my stuff didn't fit into one car....even though I have an SUV!) and helped me move in! He went to the same school I do (which is how we met) and he has created quite the reputation for himself here....and most people know who he is, staff included, which makes it easy for him to get stuff done. We got into my room and saw that I had the old furniture...ugh! Luckily, it took him all of 5 minutes to get someone to switch out all my furniture and get me the new stuff (love him). But when he asked the maintenance guy, he had to call someone else on the walkie-talkie to make sure it was OK first. While he was calling in we heard him say "uh yeah 316? I have a PARENT and a student here moving in with a question, can you meet us at 028?" HAHA! I mean he IS 4 1/2 years older than I am but....I didn't think he looked old enough to have a child in college.....and I didn't think I looked young enough for him to BE my parent....but I guess so. So after that we did not hold hands or kiss until the maintenance crew had left.

little bit of an update

I am still in VT and don't have to be at school until Friday...and I am soaking up every last minute of freedom before the tennis matches, clinicals, and exams officially take over my life! Don't feel too bad though, I have basically been unemployed all summer and have been poolside (with a drink), lakeside(with a drink), or oceanside(with a drink) all freakin' summer!

Arachnophobia

As I was just sitting here innocently blogging...sister #3 and her boyfriend came in to hangout and boyfriend #3 caught a spider in our family room...(ick).  It's such a boy thing to have to pick up bugs!  It's ALSO a boy thing to have to dangle it in front of his girlfriend's face and piss her off! But it was a daddy-long-leg and kinda small so whatever...and then he thought it would be equally as funny to do it to me too!  It wasn't.  I just turned away so I wouldn't see it and then I heard sister #3 scream and yell "OMG T!  PICK IT UP!" Uhhh I'm sorry?  PICK it up?  It isn't UP already!?  Where the hell is it!?  Ohhh that's right....currently crawling on my shirt!!!  And since I was sitting here innocently blogging and holding my laptop I couldn't exactly jump up and throw my macbook so I could fling it off me!  T eventually got it off me...but it was the longest 3 seconds of my life!

When they say the best way to get over a fear is to face it...I DON'T think they meant you should literally have it on your face.

Summer is almost over...

I have started organizing all my stuff for college...since I will be leaving lovely VT and heading *slightly* more south for the school year.  Tennis preseason starts in a couple weeks but the good thing about THIS year is that I will get to move my stuff into my actual room instead of having a temp room for the 2 1/2 weeks of training....who ever thought of THAT idea has clearly never moved anything into a dorm room...since no one who HAS would ever think doing it TWICE in one month would be acceptable.  However I will be living with my bff B next year which promises to be crazy, funny, and so much fun (you'll hear all about it).  We're living in the newest dorms with walk-in closests and with the amount of clothes the two of us have combined....those are much more a necessity than they are a luxury!  The rooms are still dorms which means they're pretty small...and our beds do not loft (that I know of)....any suggestions for using space??  Anything I definitely should buy?

It's been FOREVER!

I  apologize for the absence of my blog updates for like the past two weeks!  I have been on vacation and it was pretty much a blast! I had the BEST two weeks....so really, sorry but I'm not sorry!  So I spent the last two weeks in CT, NYC, and York Beach with my sisters, my parents, the boy, and others!  The weather was absolutely perfect and as always we stayed at the beach too long, drank too much, and sang too loudly....but no one was complaining.  And of course we are going to do it all again next year!

More stories later, I have to go watch the movie Twilight...I just finished the book and fell in love....and I shamelessly admit to being a "Twilighter"

Harry Potter

Please do not hate me for what I am about to write....I have never actually read any of the Harry Potter books.  Ahhhhh!  I know, I know I am probably the only English speaking citizen left who has not!  And I have only seen the first movie.  BUT!  I have made it my summer resolution to read the Potter series from start to finish and I am starting tonight!  This idea was prompted when the book I was currently reading got left out in the rain, because I left it out there....and has since started growing mold, therefore I am unable to continue reading it...oops.  It's alright though, it wasn't that good....it also wasn't mine!  Ehh, what are ya gonna do?

I am also going to start reading the Twilight series (when I finish the Harry Potter series of course) because I am curious about all the fuss surrounding that one as well!  Wish me luck!

Tennis

One of my best friends from home, T, called me tonight to play tennis with him and his friends, they needed a fourth player for doubles since their original teammate (who happens to be my ex boyfriend...who I'm not that fond of anymore, at all) ditched them and never called to say he wasn't going to make it...shocking!  He never was one for common decency, hence the EX BF status.  So I show up to the court to find ALL THREE wearing red shorts and white tee-shirts...I thought, "hmmm...did they join some adult league and I missed the memo about the uniform?".  Turns out no.  They just COINCIDENTALLY wore matching outfits....hahahaha.  Too funny!  Whoever says only girls do stuff like that, never met my group of guy friends.  Anyway, as embarrassing as it was...it was fun to play doubles again!  I miss tennis!  Of course I say this now, come preseason in August I'll be blogging about how miserable my 6 hours of tennis a day are!!

First Night of Bartending

Soooo much fun!  It was my first night ever of bartending!  I mean don't get me wrong, I've poured a few mixed drinks in my day and certainly popped open a few bottles of beer...but straight up bar tended?  Not until tonight.  It was actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Pretty much everything people ordered I've made for myself at one time or another so I caught on quickly.  The hardest part is memorizing all the names of the liquors we serve and where they are on the shelf, or which cooler a particular beer is in.  You definitely meet some interesting people, who (since most quickly become liquid courageous) will tell you more than you want to hear. I won't complain though because making more than 20 an hour in tips alone makes it a lot easier to sit through stories, I can tell you that.  $ 20 tip on a $5 tab isn't bad!  The guy who gave that to me reasoned because "I'd much rather look at you workin' than my buddy over there" (his buddy being the owner of the bar).  Well, I guess I can cross learning how to bar tend off of my list of things that I will find useful in the future.  ;)

Guilty Pleasure

Okay, so I officially decided that Chelsea Handler's talk show "Chelsea Lately" is my new guilty pleasure every night at 11.  She is freaking hilarious and I used to watch Girls Behaving Badly on Oxygen all the time and I loved her on that too!  If you've never watched Chelsea Lately, you don't know what you're missing.

Monday...

So my holiday weekend is officially over!  I go back to working tomorrow and sisters #1 and #2 went back to CT and so did the boy.  But it's okay because I am only a working girl for the next week and a half before it's vacation time again!  I'll be traveling down to CT next week and then all of us are off to vacation in Maine!  On a drunker note, here's the holiday weekend recap....

It was sister #2's birthday over the holiday and we had a happy hour in her honor!  Champagne, wine, and mixed drinks were served for the celebration.  Although it was not sister #1's birthday, she sure as hell celebrated enough for the whole family!  And got the first piece of birthday cake...which she cut with her own fork...while the candles were still burning...and while people were still singing.  Classy, no one could tell she had a bottle of wine to herself, and a handful of cocktails at the happy hour.  Definitely love her.

We ended the night with some karaoke in honor of MJ...rocked out to some Billie Jean and Thriller.  We had to get up early for the "parade party" the next day that my parents host on our front lawn.  Things went smoothly for the most part...the boy, who is HARDLY a morning person was unimpressed with the start time, but he got over it...nothing a bagel w/cream cheese and a cold beer by noon won't fix right?  And sister #1, to everyone's surprise was awake before 9am and back at home...still drunk though, and still in her party dress from the night before.  Love it.

On a more depressing note....I'm pretty sure I gained at least 3 lbs this weekend..although I cant be sure because I refuse to check!

On  a more encouraging note....I get my stitches out tomorrow (the tests showed that the mole was just a mole but it was removed anyways) and can workout again!!

That's all for now.  Hope everyone else had an equally eventful fourth!

K

Greys

Also...just thought this was blog worthy, if anyone out there is a Grey's Anatomy fan you will understand....sister #2 is currently sitting in a bar in Manhatten next to DENNY, yes!  That's right, the actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is having a drink a bar stool away from her!  I told her to chat him up and get the new season scoop...WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH IZZY AND GEORGE?! but she is not quite as outgoing as I am, if it were me, I'd have already sent a drink and an "I think you're so amazing and I love you as Denny in Grey's" glance his way!

Holiday Weekend!

So, in honor of the holiday weekend sisters # 1 and 2 and boyfriend of sister #2 AND boyfriend of this girl will all be traveling from CT to VT tomorrow evening.  Sister #3 and her boy live about 5 minutes away so they will also be here!!  Our family will be hosting not only one but TWO 4th of July parties because well, let's face it...after twenty years of partying together...it's safe to say we do it pretty damn well and we love any excuse to make themed martinis and wear party dresses.  I can guarantee it's going to be a a wild weekend.  Updates Tuesday.

Hope everyone else has a fantastic fourth!

Word of advice...control yourself in Costco

Never go to Costco on an empty stomach!  I went shopping there yesterday with my mother...we we're shopping for both of the parties we will be hosting this weekend in honor of Independence Day, and sister #2's birthday...and we'll just because we like any excuse to throw a happy hour.  So we were roaming the aisles, innocently getting what we needed when we come across one of those little carts...with the food tasting!  The first one started out just because we we're deciding between sweet or italian sausage but by the time we left there we had sinfully sampled every cart in the place!  Good thing I can go to group class tomorrow and work it off...oh wait!  I CAN'T!

Because I loooove tanning...

So I love tanning!  Mostly outside but I'm no newbie to the salon either (save the lectures, I'm well-aware of how terrible it is!).  I recently discovered a new mole on my shoulder that was odd-shaped so I decided to see my dermatologist today and have it removed (better safe than sorry!) which she did.  And APPARENTLY it's a little bit of a process because it was the size of a freckle and needed to be sutured.  They (she and the resident) then tell me in order to prevent scarring and infection I should not engage in any sort of strenuous physical activity over the next 10 DAYS.  This means no group classes OR ab workouts at night for the next 10 DAYS! I am going to miss our family class (when my three sisters are home for the 4th, my boy, my sisters boys, and our mom) when we all take it together!  Ugh, I'll just be one miserable B on the treadmill that day I suppose...since luckily running is exempt from this temporary exercise expulsion.

We will also be running in our town's traditional 5K race on the 4th of July...(my first ever! ) which I am still trying to convince the boy to do with me too....and have been more than unsuccessful with my attempt (I almost had him for a second until I mistakenly mentioned it's 8am starting time).  Lame!

AB Workout (upon request)

I actually found it in a magazine a long time ago, it'd called the "beyonce ab workout"!

1. You start by doing 50 regular crunches (with your feet in the air or on the ground)
2. You do 25 side crucnhes (bend your legs 90 degrees and turn them to one side. One leg is on top of the other one but your back stays flat on the ground) and then your turn your legs to the other side and do 25 more.
3. You do 100 bicycle crunches (regular crunch form only you twist your upper body trying to touch your right shoulder to your left knee and extending the right leg parallel to the ground, and then doing the same for your left shoulder and right knee). You count to 100 by twisting your right shoulder to your left knee as one and then twisting your left shoulder to your right knee as two).
4. You end with 50 "froggie" cunches. You are in the regular crunch form only the bottoms of your feet are touching each other and your knees are bent out to the sides of your body (ie you look like you have frog legs when you do this one...which is usually why I do it in my room before I go to bed...and not in public)
5. LASTLY you do a 30 second standard plank.

It's pretty hard the first few times you do it but it definitely gets easier!

K

25 Things

  1. I LOVE the color pink.

  1. I play tennis and love it.

  1. My sisters are my best friends.

  1. My boyfriend is the only person outside my immediate family that I’m completely honest with (well and the whole world via this blog I suppose….but this is anonymity and no one in the blogging world can really hold me accountable for the things I confess, which is why I absolutely love it).

  1. I love the ocean and I always wear over-sized sunglasses.

  1. I’m directionally challenged! I could probably get lost in my own driveway.  If anyone is familiar with the CT area, you’ll appreciate this story AND think I’m a complete idiot.  I actually mistook the merit (which I called the Marriott) as Interstate 95 when traveling to the Rowayton area and ended up in downtown Norwalk….I’ve asked for a GPS for Christmas…don’t worry.

  1. I’m addicted to handbags (Louie, Vera, Coach, Dooney and Bourke, Betsy Johnson…you name it, it’s sitting in my closet). I’m also addicted to diet coke (really they should have patches and gum for people like me, dc is terrible for you).

  1. I love pictures but don’t take them nearly enough. I love all things monogrammed.  I love the Boston Red Sox. I love to sing!  In the car, the shower, on my run, on my kitchen table or karaoke bar in Spain with my sisters…just about anywhere (even though I really can’t sing).

  1. I hate when people I don’t know stare me down…it’s not polite and it always makes me wonder what they’re thinking about me.  I hate when people put their feet on the backs of the seat at movies.  I hate when people in public places talk loudly enough for others to hear about inappropriate stories.  I hate public restrooms.  I hate the days when no matter what outfit you put on or how you do your hair…you look awful.

  1. Christmas time is my favorite time of year.  I listen to Christmas music all day every day in December, love decorating my house, and love the food!  It’s also one of the few times of year all 6 members of my family are together since we’re all grown up now.

  1. I could never go a week without straightening my hair (a ceramic flat-iron is a must-have for anyone that straightens).  Or go a week without wearing eyeliner (Lancôme…best $30 you will ever spend).

  1.  I love science and writing.

  1. I’m witty and sarcastic and mean what I say.

  1. I admire people that say how they feel and do what’s right.  I try to be one of them.

  1. I could never live in the city.

  1. I never want to live anywhere but New England.

  1. I’m always friendly.

  1. I’ll try anything once.

  1. I love to travel and never ever check bags.

  1. I live in Uggs all year round.

  1. I’m also domestically challenged.

  1. I want to get married on York Beach or Lake Champlain and I refuse to spend more than 15,000 TOTAL on my wedding.  I know.  What kind of woman am I?  But seriously, it’s one day where the most important things are the music, the people, the food and the alcohol.

  1. The little things matter the most to me.

  1. I love dressing up.

  1. I’m a wild child at heart, and in life.

Housewives

I am a dedicated viewer of Desperate Housewives, love the new episodes and the reruns on LT at noon (yes, I do watch those daily during the week since I am basically unemployed this summer).  But while I was babysitting tonight I discovered The Real Housewives of NJ....I'm officially addicted.  I couldn't even blink at one point for fear of missing one of their not-so-subtle facial expressions!

MY STAY IN SHAPE FOR SUMMER PLAN

So I'm not exactly a workout-aholic,  I certainly don't deprive myself of yummy treats and I'm certainly no nutritionist but when it comes to staying healthy and getting in shape for summer I'm all about it and I don't go to any extremes to do so.  I just figured everyone was doing the same so I thought I'd share my skinny  secrets with the world.

#1: I drink 15 glasses of water a day...I know "they" say 8 but you can never drink too much water.  The blood in the human body is 83% water, the brain is 74% water, and the muscles are 75% water.  That's a lotttta water...so you can only imagine how much of an "H2O hoe" your bod is (especially in summer)!  Drinking lots of water not only speeds up metabolism it completely hydrates your skin as well.  You'll be skinny, you'll metabolize food much faster, and your skin will glow.  DRINK WATER.
#2: I run 2 miles at least every other day.  Running is an "all-over" body workout and so good for you.
#3: Tea!  I drink GREEN TEA 3 times a day!  Trust me, it's rich in antioxidants and again, this one helps with the food digestion process.
#4: I attend group classes at my gym.  There's something motivating about working out with 5-10 other people at once....because no one wants to be the girl that wimps out of a 60 minute workout or the girl cheating on the squats...so when I go to these classes I know I'm working hard.... treadmill incline level twelve's got nothin on this girl!
#5:  I do a 250 crunch  ab workout every night before I go to bed.  I kid you not, really I do and it takes me 5 minutes.  There are 4 different types of crunches in the workout so it isn't a tedious 5 minutes, and the cherry on THAT sundae is the 30 second plank after the workout.

That's all I do.  Nothing too crazy.

K

Procrastinating Professor (certainly not posh, poised, OR prompt)

Okay...so you should probably know that I love school!  LOVE IT.  I have always done well with structure and work that challenges me.  I always, always complete things on time and to the best of my ability (I'd like to think so anyways) and I always, always make sure to use my time and stay on top of assignments.  Well when I took a computer class my spring semester last year my professor realllllllly made this difficult for me.  It was a small class of 25 students and he never even learned my name.  I'd be understanding is I went to BC or BU or UCONN...but I don't.  I go to a small liberal arts college where it is expected of professors to interact often with their students and he called me Brittany the entire time....that's not my name.  Then...I regularly completed exemplary work and did really well on every assignment so you can only imagine my astonishment when I realize I got a B!? After receiving an A on every assignment...OK.  So I ask him what's up with this blatantly OBVIOUS mistake and he says I never handed in an assigned project...so I got a 0 out of 50.  This so called project was posted on blackboard AFTER our final class and we were expected to check for it on our own and teach ourselves how to do it....nice.  So me being the dedicated undergrad that I am, taught myself what to do, did it, and emailed it to him in 5 hours (even though the due date said December 16th....and yes I took it in the Spring....what a thoroughly organized professor huh?) I attached the project in an email and was on my way home for the summer!  3 weekes later I discover my grade has not been changed...so I email the professor and hear nothing back from him for a week....so I email him again....and again....and again 15 times over the course of a month and a half with only 3 responses from him (none of which were in any way, shape, or form at all helpful or informative about the status of my project).  I then emailed our academic dean who told me to continue emailing the professor (she must be a real bright crayon too since THAT was working so well.)  In those 15 emails to the professor 3 of them contained the attached project because I did not want to lose points for not doing it/turning it in late.....

ANYWAYS TO GET TO MY POINT!  I receive an email from said professor today saying...and I quote!  "Hi K, I still have not received a copy of your publisher project.  I went back and checked all your emails, none of which have an attachment. Prof D."

Really.  REALLY??  Because there are THREE FREAKIN EMAILS WITH THAT EXACT ATTACHMENT FROM WEEKS AGO but here....let me foward it A FOURTH FREAKIN TIME for you.....

K settled?

My Connecticut boy...CG and I have been "officially" dating for 6 months.  How anyone got ME to settle down in college is still a mystery... I'm usually the kind of girl to love with abandon...when things lose their enticement I tend to cut my losses and move right along but this one keeps me in line and on my toes...always a new adventure with the two of us.  OK......so the fb status is changed and the claddagh ring is turned; this one's a keeper!

B

B and I have been bfs since middle school.  Things just sort of *happen* when we're together.  Neither of us have enough common sense to realize when the other one is about to do something seriously stupid so we've had our FAIR SHARE of embarrassing, blonde, and messy moments.....that later make for great blog stories ;)

PS- Don't you think we'd be perfect roommates!?  Any college would be insane to let the two of us do a thing like that.....

M

M has been my very best girlfriend for as long as I can remember.  Together we've  conquered pre-school, grade school, middle school, high school, and Washington D.C (whole other story).  I can always count on her to be honest and be there if I need her.  She's a risk-taker, drama queen, heart-breaker, and all-around crazy girl...which is why we are best friends.

The Family

Okay, so I basically have (what I think) is the best family a girl could ask for; happily married parents (no, that is not a typo, I do in fact have happily married parents) and three older sisters who are more like friends at this point.  The oldest sister (Sister #1 she will be referred to as) is a mother figure, paving the footsteps for her three little ducklings to follow right along in, and that we did!  Everything she did growing up miraculously turned into exactly what the other three of us wanted to do too.  I know what you’re thinking, she probably hated that but trust me, if you knew her you’d know she wouldn’t have it any other way…always has to be first, right, and know everything.  She’s a bit of an overachiever….just ask graduate school grade report.com.  The middle sister (Sister #2 she will be referred to as) and I know, there are four of us so how can there be a middle sister?  But trust me, if there were a “Hello my name is MIDDLE CHILD” name tag this one would certainly wear it proudly.  We all absolutely love about her the fact that she always always stands up for what she believes in and is never afraid to tell you what she thinks.  Her tiny size is deceiving, Sister #2 is feisty and I’d put money on her winning just about any kind of fight that might arise.  In addition to those things we love about her she is also the cook of the family and will make the BEST guacamole and salsa you will ever taste in your life!  Finally, the third sister, my twin sister (Sister #3 she will be referred to as) and no, we are not actual twins but we are barely a year apart and may as well have been (our mother always tells us it would have been a lot easier is we were).    When her and I were growing up we shared everything and did everything together, I mean everything! The “I want what they have” mentality can be renamed as the “I want what SHE has” mentality.  Yes, you ARE right this time, SHE did hate that!  Everything she got I got too, it’s just the way it was; a perk of being the baby I’d say.  Sister #3 is always doing her own thing, doing what she wants, and not really worrying about anything in the process of doing it.  That probably sounds selfish but she just isn’t that bothered with needing to please people (unlike sister #1…always the hostess with the mostess).  My parents, you guessed it!  Are saints for simply raising the four of us successfully and to a pretty exceptional standard I might add, although none of us were ever really “problem children”….we all had our days.

I used to think families that weren't sublimely happy were weird....but I'm beginning to think it's US.

xoxo,

I know I know.

So before we get into the ridiculous moments of my life…..you might want to know what/who exactly it is I am talking about right?  Duh.  I’ll create “get to know the people I love” posts.

Bartending??

So my mother, the social butterfly that she is, fluttered her way right into a new local bar and immediately befriended the owner (of course, do I expect anything less of her?) who might be looking for some part-time help for the summer...and lucky for him, M happens to have two daughters interested in learning the trick of the tend, we'll find out more Saturday. But for the girl who usually spends more time sipping drinks than pouring them....adjusting to this could be a beautiful mess....Wski might just be in for a wild ride.

PS- Whoever said over-involved mothers are a bad thing, clearly never met mine.

First Blog!!

So never did I ever imagine I would become a "blogger" but there's something intriguing about public diaries.  Well, that and the fact that my older sister has a blog that she is now addicted to in which she constantly and continuously blogs about me and our other two sisters on so I figured I'd find out for myself what all the fuss is about... and well let's face it, being the youngest of four girls has instilled in me the "I want what they have" mentality.
